:calendar: Awaiting Content :top:

  1. Sable (XSX) :green_heart: :new:

:repeat: Revisiting :top:

  1. Mass Effect Series (360/XSX)
    • 360 version :green_heart:
    • XSX is the Legendary Edition
  2. Road Rash (PS1/GEN) :cd:

:checkered_flag: Beaten :top:

  1. Cyberpunk 2077 (XSX)
    • 90+ hours spent doing everything aside from buying all the vehicles.
    • Got a satsifying ending with Judy and Panam.
    • May revisit after the next-gen upgrade, but not before.
    • Judy :sparkling_heart:
    • Panam :sparkling_heart:
  2. Watch Dogs: Legion (XSX)
    • On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 6.5 (Decent).
    • No main character made the game less engaging.
    • Story beats were solid.
    • Really chuffed it lost 6 hours of progress due to an autosave issue.
    • I did enjoy the hacking and bits, but for me, even with all the crashes and bugs, Cyberpunk 2077 ate its lunch and dinner and kept me overnight and took me out to breakfast.
    • Bagley :sparkling_heart:
  3. Sayonara Wild Hearts (NS)
    • Chose this as a palette cleanser and it delivered in spades.
    • The entire experience was simply wonderful.
    • I don’t think I could recommend this game highly enough.
    • I had a tear running down my cheek by the end of the game.
    • Best end level I have played in a long time.
  4. Project TRIANGLE STRATEGY™ (working title) Debut Demo (NS)
    • Played enough of the demo to know I like it.
    • Reminds me of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, strategy-wise.
    • Looks like OCTOPATH TRAVELER
    • Will defintely consider this on-sale, post-release.
  5. Rain on Your Parade (XB1) :green_heart:
    • Wonderful game that didn’t overstay it’s welcome.
    • Continually changed up the formula.
    • Literally laughed out loud at a late game achievement.
    • Cloudy :sparkling_heart:
  6. Tunic Demo (XSX)
    • Fun and charming.
    • Impeccable music.
  7. Haven (XSX) :green_heart:
  8. Chicory: A Colorful Tale (PS4)
    • Completely worth the price of admission.
    • Very enjoyable gameplay.
    • Godmode and Boss Skip options should be standards.
    • Very solid story covering emotions and friendship.
    • Chicory :sparkling_heart:
  9. Subsurface Circular (NS)
    • Mixed feelings.
    • Did like the lore nod to Thomas Was Alone.
  10. Lake (XSX)
    • Pre-ordered after positive reviews.
    • Felt underwhelmed and disappointed by the end. :disappointed:
    • Lot’s of day one technical issues (soft crashes, little to no autosaves, glitches that started my day in conversations with other characters).
    • Soundtrack on the in-game radio was very lacking.
    • Writing and gameplay loop didn’t allow me to spend extra time with potential romance interests.
      • I was genuinely expected to choose someone I had only met, helped once or twice, and potentially had dinner with in a two-week span, without giving me any freedom to explore those potenially budding relationships at my leisure.
    • More characters bothered me with their personalities than I enjoyed.
    • Plagued by technical issues, at the end, I chose to go back home.
  11. The Artful Escape (XSX) :green_heart:
    • What a game!
    • Stunning visuals.
    • Wonderful, shredding music. :guitar: :sparkles: :sparkles:
    • Solid Bill & Ted vibes (on a journey and not sure how to take on a big show.)
    • The player choices were cosmically delightful.
    • Absolutely sticks the landing.
    • Couldn’t recommend it high enough. :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:
  12. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice (XSX) :green_heart:
    • Looked so beautiful with RTX on.
    • Headphones make the audio experience amazing.
    • Just such a good game that doesn’t overstay it’s welcome.
    • Sticks the landing.
    • Makes me think about my mom’s mental health differently.
    • The Mental Health Feature opens up as a menu item post-game & is 25 minutes well spent.
  13. Metroid Dread (NS)
    • So very cool.
    • Movement is super fluid and gameplay was mostly enjoyable.
    • The EMMI’s were more annoying than frightening.
    • The “spam missiles to win most boss fights” became tedious.
    • Nearly gave up on the second boss, my hands and wrists hurt from Joycon & Pro Controller usage.
    • New turbo-enabled third party Joycons made it easier.
    • Story was interesting but not captivating.
    • After multiple tries, watched the final battle and ending on YouTube.
    • I liked it, but it definitely had it’s flaws. :star: :star: :star:
  14. Wandersong (NS)
    • Finally saw this through after years in my library.
    • What started with a silly bard ended with some of the most heartfelt game design I’ve ever experienced.
    • The music was the star.
    • The gameplay never felt old.
    • Miriam had such wonderful character development. :sparkling_heart:
    • Baub was a delight to watch in every situation.
    • I loved the secret area.
    • :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:

:thought_balloon: Why? :top:

You should be playing games you enjoy. Just remember your pile when you start looking for something else to play, instead of purchasing another title.

That’s really all this is for - to make sure you enjoy what you’re playing and getting rid of stuff that you aren’t. - Me, 2013

:memo: Notes to Self :top:

  • I should not buy DLC until I am ready to play it.
  • I stop playing open world games when I complete the main story.
  • I am bad at platformers, regardless of how much I enjoy watching them.
    • See Super Lucky’s Tale and Mario Maker 2.
  • I am much more of a taste-tester than I ever was before. This leads to more jettisoned games, but in the end I, I find myself playing more games and getting hooked on the ones that really click with me.
  • If a game isn’t living rent free in my mind, or at least making me want to get to back to it, then I should consider moving on. I value enjoyment the most, so if the fun factor isn’t there, even for AAA GOTY titles, it’s ok. :rocket:
    • See Control and Ghost of Tsushima.
  • Games that frustrate me aren’t fun. There’s no joy in beating my head against a wall. It’s likely that a game that violates this once, will do so again. Don’t be fooled.
    • See Metroid Dread.
  • If there is no difficulty setting for a combat-oriented game, I may not be interested.
    • See Metroid Dread.
